Also, when you consume something sweet, it remains a memory and a taste you may not want to forget and naturally associate that taste with the memory, making the whole idea beautiful. Did you know that even desserts have fascinating history or origin story? Let’s look at two classic summer desserts and their history.

Summer Desserts – Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is one of the classic dessert ingredients used in a lot of desserts. For example, it is thick and perfect for slicing, and hence, makes for an ultimate filling for a chocolate cake. Or picture a tender fudgy brownie topped with Reese’s. A combination of peanut butter and rich chocolate is just irresistible. Did you know that peanut has a long history, being a native to South America for thousands of years?  They have been popular for a long time and grow well in southern countries, like Georgia. Peanut butter has its roots in the USA. Did you know that in the 19th century, it was considered a luxury health food?

Some tips (if you are) making peanut butter brownies include, if you are using natural peanut butter, then make sure that you stir it well before adding to make sure the naturally separated oil blends in together. Sugar is already present in conventional peanut butter. So using bittersweet chocolate helps to get that perfect blend of richness and sweetness.

You can also make peanut butter cookies, ice cream with a drizzle of caramel, no-bake pie, sundaes, and many more!

Summer Desserts – Blueberry Whoopie Pies

The blueberry whoopie pies can be stored in airtight containers for up to two days. The list of ingredients includes all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, kosher salt, unsalted butter (at room temperature), light brown sugar, granulated sugar, lemon zest, egg, buttermilk, confectioners’ sugar, buttermilk, mascarpone cheese, and of course, blueberries. Whoopie pies are also known as Big Fat Oreos, gobs, bobs, and moon pies. A classic whoopie pie features chocolate cake with vanilla-flavored frosting. Double chocolate, pumpkin, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate chip, and gingerbread are some other flavors.

Did you know that there are at least four states that claim the origin of this sweet treat?  A fun story claims that it was the Amish wives who first made the whoopie pies. They combined the remnants of cake batter and frosting. When their husbands, the Amish men, found these treats in their lunch boxes, they would exclaim, “Whoopie!”. And thus, the name came about.
