As a bittering agent: The flower heads have been used as a bittering agent in beer at a dose of 0.5-1 g per gallon.

In cosmetics: Dandelion root extract is used as an ingredient in some hair and skin products.

As a food flavoring: Dandelion greens can be used in salads or as a cooked vegetable. The root can be roasted and ground to make a coffee substitute.
